I had fun playing and beat it after i had maxed everything + bow. I think the bow in combination with infinite pierce in an open field, where enemies cant hide makes every other playstyle feel too weak. Bow seems like it has no downside (where melee playstyle has no gap closers and also takes damage).

If you are open for suggestions.
Adding abilities tied to current weapon equipped would help. for example if you have a melee weapon equipped you get a certain mobility ability. like charge enemy or dash random direction or flat +runspeed. so this would make the bow always the most immobile playstyle which is a fair tradeoff in my opinion.  Still i like the bow beeing so strong :D

Thanks for the feedback! I just pushed an update to make the arrow piercing upgrade gradual (pierce through 1, 2, 3 enemies) which should help a bit but the bow is still too powerful, I'll work on the balance more.

Adding the weapon abilities is a great idea, I'll definitely explore that, thanks for the suggestion!

I'm also planning to add more weapon-specific upgrades, maybe a special stick attack that blinds the enemy, 360 degree mace swing etc. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to shoot!

I think stun is a good idea. Because i had a hard time in meelee fights dishing out a hit without getting hit and enemies can stack. So i had lots of situations where i kited enemies with the bow long enough where they clumped up a lot. But because of me always on the run and the proximity the auto targeting of the bow was prioritizin other targets, so i had no real agency to attack that stack.
Then tried to attack the stacked units with a melee weapon because it would have been a lot of aoe damage but got insta oneshoted by lots of stacked units, all swinging at the same time :D
Melee targeting feels more controlled than the random arrow targeting in my opinion (propably because of proximity)
It always felt very dangerous to go into melee fights where it would have really mattered to dish out lots of controlled aoe damage, cause i couldnt manage to not get hit.

So yea TLDR a stun would be cool :D

Before I understood that I had to collect the stick to start the game, I died once. I closed the tab too, but gave it another chance. You really should give the player the stick from the get go and place a money pick up on the road. (Placing something to pick up is a good idea because there's nothing indicating that it's a horizontal scroller.)

Depending on enemy density I used bow or throwing axe and mostly circle strafed to win. I only used the mace against the boss, with the occasional ranged circle strafe to regenerate health.

If the arrow piercing and axe explosions upgrades weren't in the tree but the smithy (where they belong), I wouldn't have known about them and wouldn't have rushed them as hard as I did.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I just pushed an update to equip the stick from the beginning and moved the other pickups a bit. (I've also added a small army protecting the king and a bonus gold pickup at the end)

I'll keep working on balancing the weapons so all of them have their use case.

Not sure I understand the last bit with arrow piercing and explosion upgrade though. Do you think they should be at the blacksmith so players don't try to get them before they have the weapon that uses them?

Is there any purpose for anything but the OP bow?

in theory, the mace should be good against large groups of enemies, the throwing axe should be better than bow against stronger enemies at range.I’ll work on improving the balance, or making each weapon much stronger than the previous.

Really fun. I like the variety of weapons but being able to pick them all up so quickly means we only end up using like 3 total. Maybe make them harder to reach or make certain enemies weak to different weapons

Thanks, that’s true, I’ll try to balance the weapons a bit better. I’m planning to add more weapon-specific upgrades, so that might help as well. Which weapons did you use most?

Very rapid swap from the iron sword(?) to the bow and eventually only the exploding axe's which were pretty cool
